Train

The Academy

An open market

The piano duo is to chamber music what the string quartet has been for the past two centuries: a demanding discipline, an immense repertoire, a unique artistic complicity. Yet whereas the string quartet enjoys dedicated classes in every major city, international competitions and a complete ecosystem, the piano duo has nothing comparable.

The result: 8 out of 10 pianists wishing to pursue a professional career as a duo end up in unsuitable classes — led by instrumentalists from other
disciplines or by pianists with no experience of duo playing.

Our offer

The Piano-Piano Academy is the first French-speaking programme dedicated to the professional training of young piano duos.

The programme
- Masterclasses with international masters of the piano duo
- Career workshops tailored to the specific challenges of this discipline
- Bridges with the permanent duo class at the École Normale de Musique de Paris (Arthur Ancelle & Ludmila Berlinskaïa) and partner institutions abroad
- Concert opportunities and integration into the Piano-Piano professional network

Results since 2022

- 40 young pianists trained across 3 cohorts
- Academy alumni admitted to leading conservatories (CNSMDP, Cleveland Institute of Music)
- Duo careers launched on completion of the programme
- Distinctions

The international competition

An unprecedented event

1000+ piano competitions held worldwide every year
0 world-class competitions dedicated to the piano duo
248M YouTube views for the Chopin competition

The major international piano competitions have become significant media events. The Chopin Competition in Warsaw has accumulated 248 million
views and 569,000 subscribers on YouTube; the Van Cliburn, 73 million views. The rounds are followed live by millions of viewers, commented on in real time, and shared on social media.

According to the Alink-Argerich Foundation, more than 1,000 piano competitions are held worldwide every year, including 59 of international level (source : WFIMC, 2019).

None of them is dedicated to the piano duo. This gap is an anomaly in an otherwise highly structured musical landscape, and a unique positioning opportunity for a founding partner.

Our offer

The Piano-Piano International Competition will be the first piano duo competition designed to the standards of the world's leading musical competitions.

Format
- International preliminary rounds on 3 continents (Europe, America, Asia)
- Rounds held in the Paris region in prestigious venues
- Grand final in Paris with orchestra
- Jury of international renown

Broadcasting
- Live streaming of all rounds on the Piano-Piano media channels
- Editorial coverage: candidate profiles, behind-the-scenes content, analyses
- Media partnerships (specialist press, radio, streaming platforms)

Objectifs de portée

- 80+ duo applicants from 20+ countries
- 5 to 10 million cumulative views (rounds + editorial content)
- Media coverage in 50+ countries
- Launch of international careers for the laureates (tours, recordings, festival invitations)

A credible benchmark
The Chopin International Competition was founded in 1927 and only reached its current global reach with the digital era. The Piano-Piano Competition is being born directly in that era: its design incorporates live streaming, content production and online community engagement from the outset.
This is a structural advantage.
