Piano-Piano Academy

The Piano-Piano Academy is intended for young duos intending to give concerts as a duo, or even to make it their career.

All courses at this academy are open to the public.

Au terme des auditions pour l’Académie Piano-Piano 23/24, le jury a décidé de retenir 5 duos :

La masterclass est gratuite et ouverte au public, dans la limite des places disponibles. L’inscription est obligatoire, pour cela :

Audition for the 23/24 Academy

When ?

Friday October 6th, 2023

Where ?

Showroom Kawai – 11 Pl. de la Bataille de Stalingrad, 75010 Paris

(Warming up rooms will be available on site)

Who ?

The audition is open to any piano duo that has been playing together for at least one year.

Candidate age limit: 27 on October 6, 2023.

The program is free, with works for 1 piano 4 hands or 2 pianos 4 hands (please provide at least one copy of the scores for the members of the jury).

Length of program presented: between 10 and 15 minutes.

The jury reserves the right not to listen to the entire program.

The results will be announced at the end of the audition day.

  • Name of duo (if applicable)
  • Number of years practicing as a duo
  • Biography of the duo
  • Artistic project of the duo
  • Proposed audition program and timing of works.
  • Contact details for the 2 pianists (email and telephone)

What does the academy offer?

  • The Piano-Piano Academy gives young piano duos the chance to hone their skills under the guidance of leading pedagogues with extensive experience in piano duos.
  • The young duos are followed throughout the year by a teaching team attentive to their needs and questions.
  • Young duos benefit from workshops throughout the year, on career building and presenting their duo on and off stage.
  • Young duos take part in the Académie's closing concert at Salle Cortot in Paris
  • Les jeunes duos sont invités à jouer au Rungis Piano-Piano Festival l’année suivante* (Concerts rémunérés).

Academy calendar :

The masterclasses are given by 5 different pedagogues during the year, in the academy's partner venues:

  • Showroom Kawai – 11 Pl. de la Bataille de Stalingrad, 75010 Paris
  • Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris – 209 Av. Jean Jaurès, 75019 Paris
  • CRR 93 : Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional Aubervilliers-La Courneuve – 5 Rue Edouard Poisson, 93300 Aubervilliers
  • Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris Alfred Cortot – 114bis Bd Malesherbe 75017 Paris

The sessions take place during the school year between October 2023 and April 2024, according to a schedule defined with the teachers and partner locations.

21 Octobre 2023 – 5 Décembre 2023 – 11 Janvier 2024 – 12 Février 2024 – 13 Avril 2024

Obligations of the selected duos :

  • Attend all masterclasses (one absence for exceptional reasons will be tolerated)
  • Participate in the Closing Concert if selected by the educational team.
  • Application fees: Membership of the Piano-Piano association is required for duos in the academy.

Free of charge

All actions carried out on behalf of the Academy's beneficiaries are entirely free of charge for them.

(Only membership of the Piano-Piano association is required for Academy duos).

Duos are responsible for their own travel and accommodation.

Masterclasses are open to the public, free upon registration.
